Its almost as if the song was "scored" by an insane professional studio/bass/session player. There are many things about this song that pop out, and the bass is really maybe the number 1 thing.

I am not sure if this resonates with other viewers, but it is so refreshing to see one of my favourite musicians have this sort of conversation with an author of such calibre. This convergence explains why I enjoy the music and the lyrics so much, whilst going through similar experiences in life. Thank you both!

I want you to know That I'm happy for you I wish nothing, but The best for you both An older version of me Is she perverted like me? Would she go down on you in a theatre? Does she speak eloquently? And would she have your baby? I'm sure she'd make a really excellent mother 'Cause the love that you gave that we made Wasn't able to make it enough for you to be open wide No, and every time you speak her name Does she know how you told Me you'd hold me until you died? 'Til you died, but you're still alive And I'm here, to remind you Of the mess you left when you went away It's not fair, to deny me Of the cross I bear that you gave to me You, you, you oughta know You seem very well Things look peaceful I'm not quite as well I thought you should know Did you forget about me Mr. Duplicity? I hate to bug you in the middle of dinner But it was a slap in the face How quickly I was replaced And are you thinking of me when you fuck her 'Cause the love that you gave that we made Wasn't able to make it enough for you to be open wide No, and every time you speak her name Does she know how you told me You'd hold me until you died? 'Til you died, but you're still alive And I'm here, to remind you Of the mess you left when you went away It's not fair, to deny me Of the cross I bear that you gave to me You, you, you oughta know 'Cause the joke that you laid in the bed that was me And I'm not gonna fade as soon as you close your eyes And you know it And every time I scratch my nails Down someone else's back, I hope you feel it Now can you feel it? 'Cause I'm here, to remind you Of the mess you left when you went away It's not fair to deny me Of the cross I bear that you gave to me You, you, you oughta know Why I'm here, to remind you Of the mess you left when you went away It's not fair, to deny me Of the cross I bear that you gave to me You, you, you oughta know

Thank you for sharing this conversation with Dr. Ramani. I have been following her channel for some time. I was raised by narcissistic parents and married a narcissistic man. In learning about all of this I understand through the trauma, I have learned narcissistic tendencies. So when you brought up apologizing to children I have definitely done my share. I think "oh no, Ive done that, I've said that, I have acted that way." And its not easy because I have to make sure I word it in a un-marter way. It can sound like that. I tell my daughter I recognize what it is and share with her why it's not ok, that Im sorry, and also that the change might not happen over night. Though that's honest its hard to say that to her. Would you have a suggestion on maybe how to say it better? Ugh! I feel she is already empathic, much more than me. I just want to still support her by showing her.

I wish ya'll would've touched more on the neglectful narcissist.... I just discovered that type the other day and it hit me to my core...Bc before I couldn't ever just put my finger on the type of narcississm that's in my life... He meets those to the T except he does have his explosive episodes and still wants sex but if he gets "butt hurt" at any given moment he will literally act as if I'm the worst person in his life like you can just feel the coldness and it's so bad I have such bad anxiety but its in my back underneath my shoulder blade and sometimes it feels like it's on fire!!!! It'll be hard to breathe, It won't go away unless I can physically distance myself from him... It's never safe to say anything I feel especially if it's indifference to him... But when I first moved in with him 3 1/2 years ago I would go from Covert Narcissist, then to Borderline, then to Fearful Avoidant to Dismissive Avoidant now to Neglectful Narcissist is there a way you could be all of those things? I'm exhausted... He will give me about one week a month of "Normal" as in Empathy, able to hold a conversation without arguing and deeply personalizing absolutely everything I say, like he usually will STONEWALL the F out of me! If I Say absolutely ANYTHING!!!!! Stomp off and slam the bedroom door, I mean he will ignore me like the damn PLAGUE!! and If he wants to have sex and I don't just for ONE night he will go around slamming shit like I can't believe I still have a toilet seat bc he slams it ALL THE TIME! trying to intimidate me. I've always said, he has ALWAYS tried to "bully" me into doing what he wants and if not I get all those behaviors. He won't tell me anything going on in his life. And it's excuse after excuse after excuse! His famous line is " I try but you this and that and he never has once put any action into "I tried" he will never ever ever hold his self accountable!

Those of us who have experienced/studied the behavior can spot them quickly, often with one look. Super, overly (trying too hard) "charming" loud people are very easy to spot. You can hear them coming. When they observe that you are not impressed (or falling for) their act, the smear will amplify. When the majority becomes aware, and the sick accept treatment, hopefully fewer enablers will be fighting/tormenting us. Thank you for taping this.

Alanis! What a great interview! Thank you. I've been following Dr. Ramani for a while now, but never latched on the the words that you spoke "lack of curiosity". I was not versed and unaware of narcissism during my 30 year marriage to one, however became stunned during 9-11 at his lack of empathy. 'Lack of curiosity' will now be my second bell weather. Thank God he left me after 30 years when I think he realized I had his 'number'. After that I realized my father was also a narcissist and that I was pre-conditioned.

Alanis has an incredibly organized mind. she packed 6, 7 , 8 , 9 talks into a single talk, she got it all in. Amazing. Uma Thurmann's artwork now, is as important to me as Kimberly Shannon Murphy. I'm not into using competition as a leg up but I'm also not into the appearance of team work, for sake of control.

Now that’s cool! I always knew ALANIS was conscious. 💯☺️🙏she seemed smarter than the other music at the time no bologna. Her ideas were adult life based and not just shallow lyrics to sell records. Very creative. 😎👈🏻💯🙏6:38 I know what you mean ALANIS, you were one of those more agreeable people who filled those types up, so you know what drives them is that lack of empathy. Always present in just about every case. 😎🙏💯also, I don’t know if you guys know, but there are people shaming those that leave agreeable statements or comments, guilt tripping us with a narcissism diagnosis. If you notice troll comments that make no sense whatsoever, they’re by design. ☺️💡💯

Many things can be true at once. Sorry for maligning what are probably mostly descent people who may have narcissistic traits or cluster personalities. It seems like the era we’re in accentuates this. A lot people are alone and full of unmet needs and our shared fantasy expectations. But I’m full of bs and have more envy and jealousy and entitlement than what is reasonable for most humans

My sister and I listened to Jagged Little Pill on repeat for 2 weeks driving around Europe. When we got back I got tickets to the JLP tour show in Tampa/St Pete FL. A few years later we did a Meet & Greet at your show at Shoreline Amphitheater in San Fran back in the aughts. We live on opposite ends of the the country now, but when my sister called me at work to suggest a blast from the past with tix for the Triple Moon tour my response was an unequivocal (and very loud!) YESSSS! Your music has raised me up, dried my tears, made me smile, helped me through and grown old(er!) with me. I can memorialize decades by what album was out and where I saw the accompanying tour shows. Thank you for being a part of all of my life, both the highs and the lows. See you July 16 in Clarkston! ❤💜🧡💚🖤💙🤎
